The secondary section in divided into the Junior secondary school and the Senior secondary school.  The Junior secondary school is a 3 year programme at the end of which student will be allowed to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which will qualify one to be allowed into the secondary school.

The Senior secondary school is also a 3 year programme at the completion of which one is allowed to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO), which will enable one gain admission into the university.
